Kenya & Tanzania 2014 - Darlene Climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro

In 2014, Darlene joined the WaterAid Climb for Life:  a 19,351 foot climb to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds and awareness for the water crisis.

Prior to reaching the summit, Darlene and 15 other committed and motivated people visited sites in Kenya that have directly benefited from the $100,000 raised on behalf of the Climb for Life.

During this trip we had the great opportunity to connect and meet with incredible communities that have been transformed into sustainable and thriving homes as a direct result of access to safe water.

It is incredible what water can do.  Water keeps families together.  Water makes growth possible.  Water improves the lives of children. Water opens doors for economic ventures. Water provides an opportunity for change.

By providing this basic right, people regain control over many aspects of their lives. It is a feeling that can be seen and heard, and it is an amazing thing to witness.

Once again, the message was clear:  the work that we are doing is great, but there is still more to be done.
